Folk Series:Hari-Purusha (The Golden Body of the Lord)/Artist: Samij Datta
"The yoga we practice is not for ourselves alone, but for the Divine; its aim is to work out the will of the Divine in the world, to effect a spiritual transformation and to bring down a divine nature and a divine life into the mental, vital and physical nature and life of humanity. Its object is not personal Mukti, although Mukti is a necessary condition of the yoga, but the liberation and transformation of the human being. It is not personal Ananda, but the bringing down of the divine Ananda -- Christ's kingdom of heaven, our Satyayuga -- upon the earth".- Sri Aurobindo

The Golden Fiddle and the Golden Feet
The Golden Lyre and the Golden Treat
Dancing in the eve-enchanted glory of the moon
With the minstrelsy of heaven’s Avalon
With bards and kings and their lonesome songs
Lovely to the eyes, clear was the sound
Of thousand bells that resembled the Song
Of Love that was coming from the Beyond.

The Art of the Dawn
The Art of the Dawn
When the earth-mind awakes its senses
And the dim rustle of the leaves are heard on the forest floor
Time taught itself the eternity of the hours
That is poured from a wonder-cup in the helms of fire
A mystic song of prayer is hymned by the oxlips and the grasses
Down the river banks of a swelling tide
And mountains that stood like rocks carved by the great eye of the splendor of the Lord
Are flashed by rays of the Supreme Dawn.

Introspection on the Lines of Savitri: An Exhibition of Symbols of Matter’s Trance, Sleep and Waking
On the eve of 5th December, the day when Sri Aurobindo left his physical body, we like to invoke through prayers, the Great Spirit of the Supreme, to live in us and show us the path towards Immortality.
On the occasion, we present a small exhibition of paintings by Samij Datta with lines of inspiration from Savitri.
In the far distant realms of truth, we invoke the power of the Supermind to descend on the earthly stupor of material inconscience and only through this invocation and prayers and aspiration, we strengthen the possibility of this great Descent to raise matter from its depths of primal ignorance and infuse in it the life-fulfilling potentials of a higher consciousness and force that can sweep the earth of its old, grey feet and bring new leaves and the blossoming lotus.- Joy Roy Choudhury.
1. Title: Midnight-Cow/ Artist: Samij Datta
With lines of inspiration from Savitri, Book of Beginnings, Book I, The Symbol Dawn, Canto I: “It was the hour before the Gods awake./Across the path of the divine Event/The huge foreboding mind of Night, alone/In her unlit temple of eternity,/Lay stretched immobile upon Silence’ marge”.

Rasa Lila: Folk Art from Rajasthan
Rasa Lila: The Dance of Divine Love, Radha & Krishna forever entwined in the Divine Play of Creation, 19th Century Folk Painting from Rajasthan
The Consciousness of Divine Love and How That Blossoms a New Age, Giving Birth to a New Time:
Consciousness-Analogue : Rasa-Lila
A pure cusp of love enfolds within
A dance of light encompasses the stars
Involuted is the birth of cosmic transcendence
The body lapsed into the woven music of the soul
Delight’s arms were stretched tenderly like the breeze
And birds caroled till the dusk-light was settled with the dews
And the moon came silently behind the honeyed groves
Enthralled the garden with its musk fragrance
A deep celestial concord rendered the scene
Filled were the senses with the rapture of springs
Unencumbered in the streams of paradise
Floating endlessly like a rainbow fish
Flowering like Judas in the forgiving heart
Or like the water hyacinths entwined forever
Where the crucifix of pain gives birth to its joy
Sorrows companions found the pleasure of life
In the warm hues of the golden ray
Immortal existence in a timeless body
A sweet fire-rhythm of silence’s flute
That breaks the barriers of the corporeal mind
And when the inward manifestation comes to the front
Omnipresent is the consciousness of the divine.

Durga, Mithila Folk Art: From the Fire in the Sea and the Ether’s Tiger-Waves
Durga: Folk-Art from Mithila, India. The painting narrates the story of Goddess Durga descending on earth to engage in the battle with Mahisasura, the buffalo-daemon, to save the human race from darkness, ignorance, immobility and death.
Consciousness-Analogue: This descent of higher forces to wipe out ignorance, pain, and suffering and death is taking place constantly within ourselves as an inner-struggle, an inner-war without escape. Soon a day will come when matter and spirit shall triumph over death and falsehood and will be One-light of the Heaven's Supreme Divinity. This is the time of the marriage of heaven and earth, the truth-consciousness will create the dream kingdom of god's light, and Sri Aurobindo's Rose of God will be planted in every human heart.
In line with the cosmic truth
She traversed the earth's seething walls
Affluent with the tide of time
And the enormous scope of future projection
Where the land is marshaled by lion’s own light
From the fire in the sea and the ether’s tiger-waves
She shall command the speechless act
That takes birth in the harmony of souls
And in the infinitesimal quarks of matter’s pristine self
Where hearts are interlocked by the true love and light
That pours through the vessels of innumerable atoms
The declensions of time and history are wiped out
The slate is clean like a spotless euphoria
It's the moment of the earth’s joy betrothed to heaven

Radha and Krishna: Folk Art from Mithila, Bihar
This is a typical Radha & Krishna Folk Painting from Mithila. These paintings are very rare as they carry the essence of natural spirituality and mytho-poeia in their narrative structures, composed with natural colors on recycled paper that tells something about sustainability, harmony and resource management.
ArtVantage is proud to bring to the audience these paintings that are done by artisans in the villages in India, they are a face of the bright India and of the world that is rising and rising like the inner-sun that never fades.
Radha and Krishna: Consciousness-Analogue
There awaiting the fruit of sweet revival
In the dense cloud of matter and mind
She alone in her splendor of dreams
Lighted the vast flame of imperial love
Where flowers bloomed and the bees hived
And the rapture of the seeds send signal to the rain
Beauty endorsed the last sight of love and bliss
And birds gathered at the honey-dusk of privilege
To hear the Lord’s singing refrains on nature’s paths
Led to by the wild breeze and the tulsi leaves
Silence harps on the moon’s vagabond flutes
Arrests time in the immemorial hearts
To say a few words or stare at the soul
In a wordless embrace and the conjugation of the stars
Create the cosmos again and again.

Katia Peshakova’s solo art show “Made in India” to be unveiled at Jagannath Café, Moscow on 20th June 2010
International Official Press Release:
Moscow, 18th June, 2010: Katia Peshakova’s enduring art involving Indian spirituality, myths and traditional archetypes are to be unveiled at the Jagannath Café in Moscow. This is her second solo exhibition in Moscow in recent times. Working mainly with acrylics, Katia’s art spans a long era of ancient history and the evolution of consciousness on earth. In times of recession, when the world is engaged in trying to recuperate from financial losses, these paintings help to create a link between the mind and the higher faith in the sustainability of nature, thereby, advancing the step towards further evolution and higher consciousness. Though these are paintings that can be categorized as the folk or mythological, yet, they are acute symbols embedded in the collective consciousness of the whole human race and their aspiration towards higher truth, light and knowledge. In fact, they are symbols of man’s progress in the 21st century towards further evolution in the matter and the spirit, and towards a future that is environmentally more safe and harmonious. Some of the paintings to be exhibited include, Lord Buddha, Ganesha, Govinda and more secular ones like fish-seller, music-player etc. These paintings are traditional ones following the history of Indian art and culture, but, in a way, they also relate to a universal consciousness of an earth governed by Love, Peace, Beauty and Knowledge. According to Mr. Jeff Ross, Director, ArtVantage, UK “it’s the sincerity combined with an honest endeavour that admires me about Katia’s art; the skill exhibited, the profusion of colours and the rhythmic dexterity is wonderful, it allows me to say that her works claim the concept that God is in the details”.
The exhibition will continue from 20th June, Sunday till 20th July Tuesday at the Jagannath Café, Moscow and one may not miss out a rare opportunity to see an Indian Summer and Monsoon of Colours at Moscow.
For further information on the exhibition, please get in touch with the Gallery at Jagannath Cafe, Moscow, Kuznetsky most 11.

New Art Exhibition: Timeless Deities
Title: Bull-Turtle/Artist: Samij Datta
Year: 2010
Medium: Mixed Media on paper
Note: Bull-Turtle
Each bright cluster breaks and renews
There are thin lines and jagged shapes
Thats how the death is defined in nature
Its piercing eyes tears the bull, threatens the turtle
There in the somber shadow under the sun
The broken fragments are arranged laterally
As if the heart knew the pain of suffering
And can reassemble the ruins of Guernica
That if its true then the art has lived
To a given time that holds the key
And the consciousness slowly comes with the light.

New Art Exhibition: Timeless Deities, An Invocation to the Spirit of the Ancient Mother, Part II (Fish-Angel)/Artist: Samij Datta, 2010
New Art Exhibition: Timeless Deities/ Artist Samij Datta
Title: An Invocation to the Spirit of the Ancient Mother (part II)/Fish-Angel
Year: 2010
Medium: Ink on Paper
Note: An Invocation to the Spirit of the Ancient Mother (part II)/Fish-Angel
Fish-angel’s eyes can dream and see
The world without the paintbrush and its strokes
The bare thread of life’s tragedy, the gloss and the glee
The comedy of its vanishing ideal, the empty mirror of its self
It looks through them and dissects every finite existence
Sees the role of time and the dimension of its space
The knowledge in the void, the cavity in the rocks
The meek surrender to the dissembled forces and strength
And the pride and the anguish and the terror and the pain
All these can change with the god-light is near
When the angel flashes her great golden beam
Sunlight and shadows though they sideways exist
Eternity merges the seer-light and the sea
Then from the fire is born the first miraculous fish
A precarious emblem of the sun-task and resurrection
An originator of the spiritual bliss
The food that supports the sustainability and growth
To her we pray to configure our lives.

New Art Exhibition: Timeless Deities/Artist: Samij Datta
Title: River-Ant
Year: 2010
Medium: Pen on paper
Size: 28 cm x 27 cm
Note: River-Ant
All that purifies the mind is a sweet flow of love
From the higher heights descending into the farthest sea
In between the pebbles and the rock,
The river-ant sings a song, blows the pipe
That nature’s path has led to these doors
Perceptible seeing justifies the inner substance of being
Rarefies the rhythm, perpetuates the order
Of existence, consciousness and bliss
And in the chaos finds the puissance and calm.

Title: Zen-Poet
Year: 2010
Medium: Pen on paper
Size: 28 cm x 27 cm
Note: Zen-Poet
An invisible relation exists
Between the poet and the flower
Each deriving the ecstasy and dance
From the sap of the golden sun
A conscious existence thus comes to the fore
Opening the secret petals of the Mother
Divinizing the beauty of Zen solitude
In the ancient matter’s luminous sound
There’s the winged-marvel of the mind of gods
Its point of bliss, the prayer, the dream
Heralding the prophet morns of tea-rose and laughter
And the fragrance swept over the garden and hills.

In grace and solitude earn the blessings of time
And redirect the world towards unity and love.

A formless embodiment of the snow-cow

The mother of forms arose from the sea
After the last ship has smoked across the horizon
The invisible formless is beginning to emerge
Under the starry nights’ alter of caves
And the stupendous silence of time,
Crept in like a sky-rat in that etherized space
Swollen heavy with the hues of Neptune’s grace
Lay open like a verse of the supramental flower
The rhythms of fragrance bestowed the peace
And there was a ceaseless flow of the moonlit dance.- Joy Roy Choudhury

That climbed the sources of the power and light
And the bliss and the beauty and the harmony of all
Never can they fail the labor the toil the march
The spark burst from the seeds of spring
Shall weave the color of the new pollinating time
That holds the future in its winding breast. - Joy Roy Choudhury

Foreseeing the end and the beginning of all

New Art/ Title: An Invocation to the Spirit of the Ancient Mother
Artist: Samij Datta/ Year: 2010
Medium: Ink on paper
Size: 19 cm x 35 cm
Note: An Invocation to the Spirit of the Ancient Mother
Unintelligible verses of the matter’s spirit
Floats in the air as like in a dream
They are unheard of or thought or sung
By men who won the plaudits of a civilized race
These unfashionable archetypes mean nothing but a dream
A vast romantic empire of an old worshipped-time
In the stone artifacts, the fire was an emblem
A sperm, a gene, a liquid invocation
To the primal birth of the ancient sun
The hieroglyph of the moon,
The wine of the Easter
The supra cosmic mandala of the Zen mind
A point undiminished, the central apex of the bud
The perfect haiku of the lotus petals
Revolving around the months of the bees and the sacred star
To redeem the time to manifest the light
One walks a long way on the sands looking at the sea
He thinks the waves may crush and oppose the All
But the turtle waits ever so peacefully
It knows the last big wave is the least of all
The earth has moved to the time of the resurrection of love. - Joy Roy Choudhury

The Sarah Bernhardt Collection: Paintings by Steven Kent
Remembering Sarah Bernhardt
Steven Kent, an emerging entrepreneurial artist from Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk has paid a beautiful and fascinating tribute to the late Sarah Bernhardt, whom the world recognised as one the most famous actress in the circa of theatre. Sarah who joined the Odéon theatre in 1866 was often known to sleep in coffins while resting because she explained that it helped her understand the magnanimity of tragic roles as an actress. In 1900, Bernhardt took up the challenge debuting as Hamlet in the two minute long film Le Duel d'Hamlet in 1900. Though she claimed to be an atheist, her personality and her theatrical performances often gives us a rare glimpse of her strength, her spiritual persona, and, her golden voice.
Steven's paintings portray the different facets of this theatrical personality and help us take a nostalgic route to the 19th Century Literary and Cultural Circa to rediscover some of the glories which we have left behind in the closets of history. Art plays an important part in restoring art and tradition, and this probably, had T.S. Eliot been alive, would have said. Steven's paintings take us back into a world that is both timeless and time-born.
The Painting of Sarah Bernhardt here is titled "A Pensive Sarah". It's done with acrylic on canvas in 2007 and has dimensions 48.5 cm by 64 cm.
Artvantage, UK is promoting Steven's iconic work THE SARAH BERNHARDT COLLECTION, please feel free to view the works at http://art-vantage.co.uk
Earlier, Artvantage has promoted Samij Datta's paintings based on Charles Baudelaire's poetry which could be seen at: http://www.charlesbaudelaire.co.uk
We would welcome your thoughts and opinions on the same.
